You can do either. The chicken will fall apart/shred at the end of cooking.

My mom was from Alabama and Florida and she used to in the 50s and early 60s make a bowl of chicken wings that look like they were stewed and rice. Just a very plain dish but it was just so very good but I never knew how she made it so I’ve looked and looked and looked For months, trying to find a recipe that looks sort of like it and yours is the only one. Couldn’t figure out how she cooked it. She didn’t have a slow cooker but she probably cooked it on a pot on the stove. I would imagine. I can’t wait to cook it today. And since I like celery and carrots and onions in any soup your recipe is right up my alley! It looks absolutely delicious! I can’t wait to look through and try some of your other recipes!
